Offering the gift of hope
The GYFT Clinic is a complete women's
health care facility offering comprehensive infertility and gynecology services.
With a primary focus on infertility, we have intended this
Web site as an educational resource for those wishing to get the facts on the various diagnosis and treatment alternatives
available for couples facing the very unsettling yet all too common prospect of not being able to conceive a child. We hope
that by providing a wealth of current information on the subject, users will familiarize themselves with the terms and methods
of treatment employed in the realm of infertility while at the same time recognize that the possibility of a cure is very
real.
With a general understanding of the processes used to detect
and overcome infertility, we find that couples tend to be more at ease with the entire treatment process once the decision
to seek help is made. We believe that minimizing stress while attempting to conceive is an important ingredient for success,
so in addition to empowering users with knowledge from this Web site, our personable staff and pleasant clinic environment
ideally mix to provide a low-key, comfortable patient experience.
Also note that we have tried to present this information in
a light, sometimes humorous tone. We realize the emotional rigors involved in accepting and dealing with infertility. In our
experience, a sense of humor goes a long way in relieving the unavoidable anxiety associated with the treatment process. Our
strongest recommendation is to try and not take this infertility thing so seriously that the fun disappears from your daily
life. You have to admit, we're going to be dealing with things like sperm, periods, ovulation, intercourse, etc. - stuff we've
all heard jokes and laughed about at some time during our lives.
So sit back, relax, and explore our website.
If you learn something you didn’t know before and it makes you just a little less trepidant about dealing with infertility,
then this site has served its purpose.

Diagnosing Infertility
Here we describe many of the potential causes of infertility, both male and female, as well as the preliminary testing
used to determine such. Once a cause of infertility is diagnosed, your physician will recommend the most efficacious method
of treatment to combat any findings of infertility. Treatments can often begin immediately following the diagnosis and may
be used in combination with each other to achieve a desired result. Many of these treatment options are outlined below. We
also describe what you might expect from a typical first visit here at GYFT.
Ovulation Induction
This section describes the process of ovulation in the
female patient. We discuss ovarian physiology, some of the signs of ovulatory dysfunction, as well as the process of monitoring
and inducing ovulation in a clinical setting so we can be sure that an egg or eggs is being produced in a given treatment
cycle. The process of stimulating the ovaries to produce multiple eggs using fertility medications is also described here.
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
This section describes the method of treatment called intrauterine
insemination, or IUI. How it works, why it is beneficial, and how the sperm are processed are all detailed here.
Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART)
Here we detail the more aggressive methods of infertility treatment
from in vitro fertilization (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), assisted embryo hatching,
to embryo/blastocyst transfer and cryopreservation. Also included are our latest published ART statistics including
pregnancy rates.
Reproductive Assays Laboratory
Reproductive Assays Laboratory, or RAL, is our onsite laboratory
providing specialized testing in the areas of andrology, embryology, and endocrine testing. Here you
will find explanations of the various sperm-related assays including seminal fluid analyses, sperm preparation for IUI, the
sperm penetration assay, sperm banking, and sperm preparation for sex selection. Under embryology, we discuss egg/embryo development
and physiology as it pertains to in vitro fertilization. Finally, we present a description of each of the hormones assayed
at RAL and how they impact one’s fertility potential.
